Don't end your life... Renew it in Jesus

Hello Sister in Christ,

I am so excited to share this blog post with you today. One of the desires that God laid in my heart for the By Grace Collective blog is to create a space where women can share encouragement and truth so that collectively, we can uplift one another and point each other back to God.

Today’s post is the first of many voices you will hear here. The young woman who wrote this is someone I have had the blessing and honor of walking alongside in her journey with God. I have seen her blossom in God’s calling for her life, and one of the gifts the Lord has placed inside of her is writing.

So, with no further ado, here are Abby’s words to you—words birthed through prayer, Scripture, and a heart surrendered to God.

Smiling woman raises arms joyfully against a pink and yellow background. Text reads "Don't end your life, Renew in Jesus" in yellow script.

Scripture Reference: Psalms 30:8-12

The Lord gave me a revelation; in verses 8-10 it says

“To you, Lord, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy: “what is gained if I am silenced, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness? Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me; Lord, be my help.”

The Lord showed me when we have suicidal ideations and want everything to end, for our life to end, then what? Will the dirt and dust then worship and serve him? What is there to gain if we are silenced? It’s an easy answer: nothing! The Lord will always turn what was meant for evil for your own good for those that believe in Him. We can’t ever see the glory at the end of the battle if we are gone, and we wouldn’t be able to allow God to change or prune us if we give up. That’s why it’s important to praise Him in the middle of our storms so that He can give us strength within them to withstand the tricks and lies of the enemy, which many times lead us to believe we are not good enough to serve God (among other things). But here is the thing—we actually aren’t! (Not with our own strengths). But He is. God is enough, and He is the one who makes us enough in Him to serve Him. Guess what? He makes us adequate, but we must allow Him to change us and shape us!

 Psalms 30:11 & 12 says:

You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with Joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever.”

This is just another demonstration of Him turning what was meant to kill you and making it elevate you closer to Him. We can take this prayer and pray it over ourselves so that we may never have silent hearts. When it comes to the Lord, may our hearts always be filled with praise for the Lord, no matter the circumstances in our lives. May we always know that no matter what situation, hurtful words said to us, suicidal thoughts, and/or malicious intent from the enemy or “friends” that the enemy is using to hurt you, the Lord will always turn those things to bless your life and situation for His glory and for your benefit!

Here are 3 ways to help:

  1. When you are in the midst of the storm, it can be hard to see a way out. When you get those feelings of “hitting a wall with God” and you don’t feel like reading the Bible or praying, DO IT ANYWAY! I know it’s easier said than done—I’ve been there—but I had to force myself to do it anyway, and that’s when He really started to move. Because in the Bible it says, “die to your flesh daily,” and your flesh wants to isolate from the Lord, but your spirit cries out to Him. When you start to do this, you will begin to see that there will still be trials, but how you handle and see them will be completely different. He will begin to show it to you from a spiritual POV. You must get to the point where you love God more than you hate the world. Love Him so much that even in the midst of the battles on earth, you still want nothing but to glorify Him through every word and action you say and do.

  2.  Find a way to praise Him in the middle of the storm. For example, say something like, “I know this is tough right now, but Lord, I trust You will turn this for my good.” Say it even if you don’t mean it! The power of life and death is in the tongue! ( Prov. 18:21)

  3.  Begin to speak LIFE into yourself!! I cannot stress this one enough—take every thought captive (2 Corinthians 10:5) and change the narrative into worship! For example, your thoughts may be saying, “I need to end my life,” BUT you then say out loud, “The Lord has called me by name. He has a plan and purpose for me. My story is not over!”

Closing

Didn't she do amazing! So proud of her. To echo her word... If you are walking through a storm right now, please know this: you are not alone, you are not forgotten, and your story is not over. God sees you, He hears your cries, and He is still working—even when you cannot see it.

May this encouragement from my beautiful sister and friend remind you to keep praising, keep trusting, and keep choosing life. THAT YOUR LIFE HAS VALUE! May your heart never be silent before the Lord, and may His praise always rise from within you—no matter the circumstances. If this message spoke to you, share it with someone who may need it today. Let us continue to walk together, lifting one another up and glorifying God in every season.

If you need prayer, send us a message. Let us know your need—we are here to walk alongside of you.

With Love,

Aurey
