A Gift in All Seasons. Past-Present-Future

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
Last week we took an impromptu, God-gifted family getaway 🥰. It wasn’t planned, but it was needed—one of those moments where you can sense the Lord gently inviting you to pause, rest, and receive. During our trip, we attended a Christmas service at an Assemblies of God church in Florida. They offered a simple yet meaningful take on A Christmas Carol, and it stirred something deep within me.
If you know the story behind Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, you know it’s rich with lessons on redemption and transformation. It has always been one of my favorite Christmas plays. But when you view it through the lens of Christ, the story carries even greater meaning.
What stood out most to me was this simple truth: we are gifted in every season—past, present, and future—with God's faithfulness.
As I reflected on this, I couldn’t help but see it the way I often explain things to my clients—as a melody.
As a musician, I love the beauty of a good melody and the richness of harmonies coming together. There is something powerful about sound when each note knows its place. I’ve used this example many times in counseling, and it felt especially fitting here.
If you imagine a piano for a moment (music lesson 101 😄) to create a basic chord, you need a root note and at least two others for the sound to truly come alive. One note alone still produces sound, but when notes are played together, they create depth and beauty.
Take the C chord (Do), for example:
C (Do) – the past
E (Mi) – the present
G (Sol) – the future
Each note on its own carries sound. But when they are played together, they form a full chord—something you can build on, move with, and shape into a beautiful melody.
That’s how I see our lives.
Our past, present, and future may each carry different tones—joy, sorrow, waiting, hope—but when placed in God’s hands, He weaves them together into a song of His goodness and mercy.
“He has put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. - Psalm 40:3
He doesn’t waste a note. He doesn’t silence a season. Instead, He uses them all to create something beautiful—a testimony, a melody, a life that reflects His glory.
The Gift of the Past
The gift of the past helps us see all that God has already done.
“Remember the wonders He has done, His miracles, and the judgments He pronounced.”- 1 Chronicles 16:12
Before anything else, the greatest story in history unfolded in the past: Jesus Christ came to save the world. What a gift we have been given. Our pasts can look very different depending on our experiences. Many of us carry glimpses of hurt, trauma, and moments we wish we could erase or suppress. Those experiences have shaped us.
Yes, healing matters. Yes, we should work through trauma. But what if, alongside the healing, we also chose to focus on the gift of His faithfulness through the hard moments?

“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.”- Psalm 126:3
When we remember how He held us, carried us, and sustained us, we begin to receive His peace, freedom, and joy—allowing us to move forward without being anchored to sorrow.
The Gift of the Present
The present is a gift we often overlook.
So many moments pass us by because we are replaying the past or worrying about the future.

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”- Psalm 118:24
The present holds sacred, everyday gifts: time with loved ones, quiet moments with God, laughter, rest, and opportunities to love and serve.
When we slow down, we realize that God is with us now.
“Be still, and know that I am God.- Psalm 46:10
The Gift of the Future
The future is not something to fear; it is a promise to trust. Because we know who holds our future, we can be confident that what He has spoken will come to pass. Yes, the future can feel uncertain, and at times our minds are consumed with questions—What will happen? How will this all come together?
But here is the truth: no matter how much we plan or try to control the outcome, at the end of the day, our security rests not in our plans but in His promises. So let us save ourselves some headaches in 2026 and trust that He has it all figured out.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”- Jeremiah 29:11
So again, even when tomorrow feels uncertain, we can rest knowing that God already stands there.
He is faithful to complete the work He began in us. He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.- Philippians 1:6
And last thing, don't forget that there is one thing we know for sure: our future in Christ is filled with eternal glory, perfect happiness, and unending praise. No more pain. No more sorrow. No more striving. He will wipe every tear from their eyes.” - Revelation 21:4
What a day that will be, when faith becomes sight and every note of our story resolves into perfect harmony.
Closing Reflection
May we learn to see our lives the way God does—not as disconnected moments, but as a divine melody. The past reminds us of His faithfulness. The present invites us to rest in His presence. The future anchors us in eternal hope. Until the day we stand in glory, may we trust the Composer, follow His rhythm, and allow our lives to become worship.
“Surely Your goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life.”- Psalm 23:6
✨ We are gifted in all seasons—past, present, and future—woven together into a beautiful melody of God’s faithfulness. ✨
May God continue to carry you in this new year 2026 the way He did in 2025. Never forget every season testifies of His goodness. It helps us grow to fully be all He wants to be.
Love,
Aurey
